| I can dream, can't I? |
| I am a sweet, friendly, happy, very tall young woman living in New York City and working at a job I love in the fashion industry. I will not bore you with a long-winded account of my teenage angst or the effort it took to become the woman I am today. Suffice it to say that I am gay, and so my path has been a little stormier than most. Nevertheless, I have been lucky enough to have a supportive family, caring friends, some of the "advantages" brought about by an upper middle class lifestyle and my love for my work. I am an illustrator in the fashion industry and so, for me, my work is sometimes like play...not always!...and I am lucky enough to be in a milieu where gay people seem to flourish. I am in a relationship with a beautiful woman whom I love desperately (see photos of her in my profile). Who can complain? I love to make the rounds of the New York clubs with Regina. If you happen to catch up with us in the city, I'll be the tall one. |

We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.
By the way, more pics of you please!
As to my work, it is all done in pencil. The darks are built up layer upon layer using stumps, cotton pads, tissue or whatever to blend the graphite into the paper. There are some drawings I've done where the darks are often fifteen or twenty layers. Obviously it is slow going.
Some of my friends asked me to upload some of my fashion illustrations and you will see them interspersed in my portfolio. They are usually far less "finished" than my finer pieces.
Thank you for your interest, and thanks once again for being so kind.
Smoooooches,
Monika

As for your art, as I said before, you are on the cusp of a kind of photorealism with your drawings. Now that you describe it all being pencil I can see it clearly, but if you havent experimented - take my word for it, you can get similarly great results with wash (diluted india ink) with probably a lot less trouble, and an almost watercolry effect sometimes. Give it a shot.
XOXOXOX
p.s. And remember, more pics of you please! lol
